Stolen

I recently came across this flickr image of new hair coming out by a new brand called Castellian. I loved it, and you can see that I even left a comment about how great the volume was. I was recently tipped through a blogger group that the textures were stolen.

Mariah Felicci (her SL name) isn’t looking to make a couple bucks to feed their shopping habit on SL like we’ve seen on marketplace (you know, the 10L priced Truth hairs), they’re looking to make a lot more. They’ve gone as far as making a blogger group for their store. In my opinion, this is something worthy of a DMCA takedown, and I would hope she is prepared.

I encourage you all to avoid Castellian at all costs including their “gift” on marketplace. In the meantime, I’m going to purchase the actual version of the hair from Damselfly.

The owner has approached me on Flickr saying it was a full perm purchase however she was not authorized to use the textures, as the original purchase DOES NOT come with the textures.
” Tommy Fairplay, our dear dear friend, brought to our attention that the brand Castellian is using unauthorized copies of his textures (read stolen) in their creations as well as passing full permission copies of his work. Please, please, do not colaborate in supporting this sort of action in your blogs. He will take action asap but, for now, what the community can do to assist is remove propaganda done for this brand in the fashion feeds. Thank you!”

The full perm ad on marketplace states that “The textures shown on the hair are not included!”, so it still stands that she has stolen the textures. I will happily remove this when she proves otherwise.

Unauthorized, and you’re passing out them out?

You really should have contacted the creator and let them handle it. Slandering people really isn’t a good look on you and it is going to be a hassle to you for quite a while.

    1) Alert CREATOR, they have more ability to initiate the AR than anyone else.

    2) Do not contact the offender yourself, let the creator do that. You are stepping on their toes by putting yourself in their business.

    3) Respect the rights of creators to handle their security as they wish and do not start a shitstorm or drama that will involve their name. They have enough to deal with in world.

    • You should take a moment to look up the definition of slander.

The creator of Damselfly alerted a group of people for them to spread the word. You may not feel any sort of moral obligation to help out an independent business, but that’s you, not me. I’m sure you have an idea of how hard it is to create hair textures– or maybe not. Castellian took the easy way out by stealing textures that Damselfly probably spent weeks doing.

I haven’t reported the person, or even asked others to report. Even if I did, it’s doubtful any action would be taken (consider all the copybotted truth hair on marketplace). And I never contacted the offender. She approached me with one comment, and I never heard from her again. I don’t consider that drama.

I’m sorry you misunderstood my blog and felt obligated to post your superfluously numbered, ineffective PR ideas. But, as you’ve already mentioned this blog isn’t about you, it’s a reflection of myself.

  3. In the marketplace ad for the Damselfly hair kit, it states right at the top of the description to credit Damselfly as the creator of the hair, which I doubt the owner of Castellian has done. It’s strange that so many people support someone who blatantly discredits the actual creator of the hair.
